All public bodies must consider how they can deliver wider social, economic and environmental impact from their procurement spend through community benefits. This award will recognise suppliers that demonstrate how the community benefits they have delivered through a Scotland Excel framework have had a measurable and sustainable effect.

Your entry must demonstrate how you have proactively worked with customers to identify and successfully deliver community benefits such as new jobs and apprenticeships, training and employability initiatives, local volunteering or charity donations that have had a positive impact for society.

Customer Service

Excellent customer service is the bedrock of many successful businesses. They don’t regard it as an add on to their business – they see it as a priority. This award will recognise suppliers that deliver a consistent approach to customer service which sets them apart from competitors.

Your entry must demonstrate how you have maintained a consistently high level of professionalism and customer focus and provide evidence of the benefits this has delivered to Scotland Excel local authority and associate members.

Environmental Practices

Improving our natural and built environment for current and future generations helps us to achieve a ‘Greener Scotland’. Tackling climate change, increasing the use of renewable energy and moving towards zero-waste will help reduce our local and global environmental impact. This award will recognise suppliers that can demonstrate how they have achieved measurable environmental benefits on a Scotland Excel framework.

Your entry must demonstrate how you have proactively improved your environmental practices by reducing your carbon footprint, implementing effective waste management or introducing sustainable manufacturing processes.

Innovation

Innovation is critical to business growth and is the key to finding better ways to deliver public services. This award will recognise suppliers that can demonstrate how their innovation on a Scotland Excel framework has delivered measurable benefits for people who use public services.

Your entry must demonstrate how your innovative product, process or approach has delivered a step change in meeting the needs of service users and/or provided valuable benefits that were not previously available.

Partnership Working

A partnership approach can create mutually beneficial relationships between the public sector and suppliers which deliver better services and outcomes. This award will recognise suppliers that have developed a positive partnership with a Scotland Excel local authority or associate member to deliver benefits for those who use public services.

Your entry must demonstrate a successful approach developed in conjunction with a local authority or associate member and provide evidence of the impact that the project or initiative has had for service users.

Small Business & Third Sector

They say good things come in small packages. Size needn’t be a barrier to participating in national framework contracts. Indeed, smaller suppliers may sometimes have the specialist knowledge and agility to respond more quickly and effectively than larger competitors. This award recognises the success of small and third sector suppliers to Scotland Excel frameworks.

Your entry must demonstrate how your approach to meeting the needs of your customers has delivered measurable benefits in one or more of the following areas – community benefits, customer service, environmental impact, innovation, partnership working, workforce development or value for money.

This category is open to suppliers with fewer than 20 employees and a turnover of up to £10m, and third sector organisations including supported businesses.

Value for Money

All public bodies are continually seeking to achieve best value from their procurement spend without impacting on quality. This award will recognise suppliers that can demonstrate how they have gone the extra mile to deliver value for money for one or more local authority or associate members on a Scotland Excel framework.

Your entry must demonstrate savings or efficiencies were delivered through specific actions taken to change practices or improve supply chain management.

Workforce Development

Your organisation’s success depends on your employees. Good workforce practices can help drive continuous improvements in performance and contribute to sustainable economic growth. This award recognises suppliers to Scotland Excel frameworks that go above and beyond in demonstrating how they value their staff and those within their supply chain.

Your entry must demonstrate your company’s commitment and approach to supporting and developing your workforce, providing examples of initiatives undertaken and the benefits achieved.

This category is open to suppliers paying the Scottish Living Wage to all employees.
